As local food events go, Prairie Theatre Exchange's Pairings comes pretty close to perfection.

It's an evening of local food and wine with an insider's look at stage life. This year, six Winnipeg restaurants and 11 producers, along with Kenaston Wine Market, will wine and dine guests during this cocktail party with a twist. The experts at Kenaston Wine Market will pair vino with food. Sampling stations will be set up throughout the theatre.

For oenophiles, it's a great opportunity to sip some fantastic vintages. Meanwhile, food lovers will sample some outstanding bites from these top local restaurants: Fusion Grill, Deseo Bistro, Mise Bistro and Lounge, CHEW and Food Evolution.

Guests can also meet and mingle with eleven Manitoba producers including pastry chefs, chocolatiers, olive oil and balsamic vinegar purveyors, ranchers and dairy farmers, all of whom will bring tasty samples of their life's work.

Participating producers include: Decadence Chocolates, High Tea Bakery, Perfect Pierogies, Winkler Meats, All Natural Meats, Delicious Kicks Salsa, Notre Dame Creamery, Prairie Oils and Vinegars, Oak Island Acres, Old Church Bakery and Cornell Creme.

The evening is a fundraiser for Prairie Theatre Exchange. It's also an opportunity for a rare look behind the scenes at a theatre company. Guests will have free reign to explore backstage and throughout the venue at the front and back of house.
