Art is in the eye of the beholder.
Come December 12, it will be also be in the stomach of the beholder.
That's the night great art comes together with a great meal to make one memorable evening.
Enter Dine with Dali, an night of art and food celebrating master artist Salvador Dali at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
The December 12 event starts with a three-course dinner inspired by the Spanish surrealist followed by a tour of WAG's newest exhibition, Up Close Dali and Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Gallery.
Dinner is the work of chef Mark Andrews at Storm, WAG's rooftop restaurant.
Colour, and Dali's liberal use of bright hues, was Andrews' inspiration, he says.
Dinner starts with an arugula salad served in a bright red beet cup. Next course brings a carefully constructed rack of lamb with wild rice polenta and a red pepper coulis. Andrews completes his culinary homage to Dali with cheesecake martini topped with a chocolate Dali moustache.
Dinner with Dali is the latest edition of Flavours of Art, one of WAG's signature event. The evenings, which are held periodically throughout the year, coincide with exhibitions inside the gallery.
Dine with Dali—WAG's latest edition—has been a big hit. The October 24 and November 12 evenings have sold out. Tickets cost $50 each for members or $55 for non-members.
