The phrase “in concert” comes full circle in an all-new artistic collaboration between Juno-award winning The Bros. Landreth and up-and-coming choreographer Philippe Larouche. This fresh addition to the RWB season also showcases work from Mark Godden and emerging choreographer Jera Wolfe for a diverse evening of performances.

ABOUT THE BROS. LANDRETH

Thirty years. Four bandmates. Two brothers. One album and at last, another in the works. Let It Lie, the JUNO winning debut release from Canadian roots-rockers the Bros. Landreth, was proof that there’s strength in numbers. It’s an album about open highways and broken hearts, anchored by the bluesy wail of electric guitars, the swell of B3 organ, and the harmonized swoon of voices that were born to mesh. At first listen, you might call it Americana. Dig deeper, though, and you’ll hear the nuances that separate The Bros. Landreth — whose members didn’t grow up in the American south, but rather the isolated prairie city of Winnipeg, Manitoba — from their folksy friends in the Lower 48.

ABOUT PHILIPPE LAROUCHE

Larouche is a dancer, choreographer and repetiteur who hails from Laval, Québec, and is currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. An apprentice with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet for two seasons, he danced on stages in China and across Canada and the US. He performed the pas-de-six in Giselle, the Russian Dance in Nutcracker and joined the corps-de -ballet in Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake. He also had the chance of dancing the Dog in Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story and took on corps roles in James Kudelka’s Vespers, Mark Godden’s Dracula and Going Home Star and Lila York’s Celts.

ABOUT JERA WOLFE

Jera Wolfe is of Metis heritage. His love of dance emerged at the age of 13 when he began training in hip-hop, break dance and jazz at a local studio in Kelowna, B.C. He studied at the National Ballet of Canada, Arts Umbrella, and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. He was a finalist on CTV’s season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Since appearing on the show, Jera has continued to train in contemporary and Indigenous dance forms. Currently, he is an Associate Artist with Red Sky Performance, a co-choreographer of Backbone and choreographer of Miigis. He also danced at the Indigenous Dance Residency (IDR) at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, was then invited back as a “Merit Dancer” and became part of the core creative team. In addition, Jera has choreographed Reminiscence for the RWB School’s annual Professional Division showcase: Spotlight in May 2017.
