Destiny Seymour (Anishinaabe) is a member of Peguis First Nation, living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and working on both sides of the Canada/US border. Seymour is the creator of Indigo Arrows specializing in homewares which showcase the ancient patterns of her Anishinaabe ancestors. For thousands of years, Indigenous peoples in Manitoba, including the Anishinaabe, created beautiful patterns to adorn their pottery collections and host of bone tools. Most of the surviving pieces are held by museums now, but Indigo Arrows has recreated the patterns onto their line of homewares including pillows, drum stools, quilts, tea towels, tablecloths and napkins.
A portion of Indigo Arrows proceeds benefit Ka Ni Kanichihk’s after school program supporting Indigenous girls ages 9-13.
