Attention all teenagers, we've got lots to offer you this winter. From outdoor activities to sweet treats, Winnipeg has everything you need to have a fun winter and holiday season. Present this teen-approved list of what you can do this winter to your parents and bam! You're making a trip to Winnipeg.
1. Canad Inns Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland is our annual holiday light show featuring over a million irresistible holiday-themed lights that will pull you in to come back every year. Drive through with your family and/or friends and stop by the outdoor skating rink along the way. On the weekends, a free horse-drawn carriage ride through the park of lights is offered.
Canad Inns Winter Wonderland is open from November 30, 2018 - January 5, 2019.
2. Skating at The Forks
Once the snow is here for good and the Red and Assiniboine rivers freeze over, you can enjoy a relaxing skate on the Red River Mutual Trail during the months of January through March. If you get cold along the way, stop in to one of the warming huts along the trail. There are many extremely creative designs being added every year! Skate rentals are also available at The Forks Market. When your skate is over, maybe stop in for some macarons from Jenna Rae Cakes or hot chocolate at Fools and Horses Coffee Company.
3. Festival du Voyageur
Festival du Voyageur is a winter festival that celebrates French Canadian culture and the organization's mission is to promote the history of the French and the Voyageurs. Open from February 16 to the 25, 2019, Festival du Voyager can satisfy all your needs during the long Winnipeg winter. Grab a popsicle stick and make your own maple taffy, watch the wood carving contest, or chomp down on some delicious poutine. No grumbly tummies after attending Festival de Voyageur!
4. Winnipeg Jets games
Do you like extreme Winnipeg spirit? Then attend a Winnipeg Jets game! A loud arena filled with cheering for our home team and an intense, action-packed, classic hockey game. If you're not in the Jets spirit, you can always check out the schedule and see if your favourite AHL or NHL teaming is playing!

FortWhyte Alive offers many winter activities for everyone! You can take a show-stopping selfie snowshoeing, ice fishing, skating, x-country skiing, or going on a Nordic walk! Not only will your Instagram follower count go up, but you will have had a great time enjoying the cold Winterpeg season!
