A Grand Experience

A Grand Experience

By: Only in the Peg // January 9, 2014 // Accommodations

One of Winnipeg's newest and chicest hotels--The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel--has just opened its doors.

Situated practically on the runway at the Winnipeg airport, it's the perfect spot to bunk down before catching an early morning flight or for a quick stop over. Outfitted with all the latest and greatest gadgetry including iPads in every room and the world's first self-serve Starbucks barista, it's a business travellers ideal home away from home.

The hotel is sleek and modern at its finest, with stunning photography, bold colours and tailored lines throughout.

The airport views are pretty cool, with the planes so close you feel like you could touch them. The Mister is a big plane fanatic--would it be odd to book a romantic evening to watch the runway lights twinkle at night together?

Actually, I could see it because the restaurant is also top-notch featuring creative tapas and impressive wine list. (I'm having one of these wine cellars built in my house just as soon as I win the lottery.)

The chef even grows his own greens for the very best in fresh, local ingredients.

Upstairs a gym, lounge area and meeting room are perfect for the business traveller on the go.

Rooms also feature a filtered water station (no waste-producing bottles here), luxurious spa bathrooms and a nifty sensor alerts staff to when you're in your room so you don't have the maid service popping in when you least expect it. It's like the future has finally come.
