Take me out to the ballgame -

Take me out to the ballgame

Take me out to the ballgame

By: Only in the Peg // July 30, 2013 // Family Fun

If you're looking for affordable family fun, then look no further than the Winnipeg Goldeyes. What could be better than enjoying a warm summer evening out in left field as our boys in red take on teams from across North America?

The gang at Shaw Park really work hard to make sure your experience is more than just a ball game.

Skits and games and music and even an exercise routine were part of the festivities last week as we enjoyed life in the stands. I even managed to catch an ice cream sandwich and stress ball (the two are not mutually exclusive).

Theme nights keep things interesting and no two games are alike.

Goldie the mascot and his new girlfriend... Goldette (what else?) will have you dancing in the stands.

Of course, one of my favourite activities while at the ballpark is eating. Basically, I spend the entire game strategically planning what's going into my stomach next. The possibilities are endless.

There is everything from noodle boxes at Bodegoes to butter chicken from Clay Oven to lemonade and soft pretzels and ice cream and pizza and beer. (No word yet if they're installing a Pepto-Bismol machine on site.)

Ticket go for as low as $5, making the perfect inexpensive outing for the whole family. Visit www.goldeyes.com for info and save me some peanuts and cracker jacks (that's the only thing I didn't eat).
