The Delta is downtown’s hottest (and coolest) hotel this summer

Rooftop pool, primetime location and amenities you can’t beat – Delta Hotels Winnipeg is set this season

By: Only in the Peg // June 1, 2023 // Accommodations

Delta Hotels Winnipeg already has everything you’re looking for during your summer stay in Winnipeg.

The location is just steps from some of the city’s top attractions like Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq for culture, Canada Life Centre for concerts and Sea Bears’ basketball games, Hargrave Street Market for culinary delights, and The Forks for almost all of the above – along with many places to unwind.

The Delta’s modern soundproof rooms are well-appointed, with many offering private outdoor balconies that overlook downtown (a perfect spot to have a nightcap, or room service breakfast while watching the city below). There are heated bathroom floors, super comfortable beds, and all the wi-fi and workstation amenities business and conference guests crave.

Foodies will love its Blaze Restaurant, which features a nice lounge for local beers and craft cocktails along with a menu flaunting share plates like Korean chicken thigh baos with local Cook’s Creek Kimchi; five-spice duck wings with orange and ginger glaze; and pork and shrimp meatballs braised in a spicy bibimbap tomato sauce with melted mozza and XO toast. (And yes, breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees too).

The hotel’s enthusiastic staff is always attentive and friendly, and the indoor pool/whirlpool area includes access to its 24-hour fitness facility overlooking the pool area.

Plus, did you know that downtown’s largest four-star-plus hotel is also home to one of downtown’s biggest secret gems?

Outdoor pool season starts in July

Delta’s Outdoor Blu Deck is located midway up the hotel, making for a stunning setting surrounded by some of Winnipeg’s tallest buildings. It is available to all guests, and it can also be rented out privately by special request (sorry, not for bachelor or bachelorette parties), offering one of the very best outdoor settings in the city when it comes to chilling.

The Blu Deck features comfortable lounge chairs (some including built-in sun covers), towel services, an outdoor bar and a splendid menu of summer dishes. For drinks, along with a range of local beer, there’s a number of classic 2 oz cocktails – including Caesars with plenty of accoutrements, Moscow Mules and sangrias selected especially for the Delta by  Jones & Company Wine Merchants. The food menu features dishes like colourful salads, wings and bowls too, ensuring that once you are settled on your deck chair, you can really settle.

All this makes for the perfect spot to spend a summer’s day. Outdoor Blu Deck is set to open in July, so stay tuned to the Delta Hotels Winnipeg’s  experiences page for updates.

Book for these events

As always, it’s going to be a busy summer at Canada Life Centre, directly connected to the Delta.

At a glance, a few of the big concerts and events include Nickelback on June 20 (still  some seats remaining), Jon Pardi on July 15, and WWE Raw on August 14. Having already sold out their home opener, our pro basketball team the Sea Bears also have games on June 12, 15, 21 and 23, as well as July 11, 14, 16, and 20th, all of which you can find tickets for here.

Located beside (and directly connected to) the Delta is the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. Some of this summer's major public events will take place here, including  Ai-Kon – the Winnipeg Japanese and pop culture convention that runs from July 14-16; several Folklorama pavilions (the world’s largest and longest running multicultural festival) from August 6 to 19; and the massive 2023 World Police & Fire Games from July 28 to August 6.

The Delta is an ideal spot to stay while attending these events, as you’re literally one minute from your room to the venues.
