Boutique week in Winnipeg makes shopping local luxurious -

Boutique week in Winnipeg makes shopping local luxurious

By: Mike Green // December 4, 2014 // Shopping

You know what would make holiday shopping actually awesome? If someone was to feed me canapés and wine beforehand, then drive me and some of my friends around to the best boutiques in the city. Yup, that would be great.

Well, guess what Winnipeg? The swell folks at Ciao! magazine and Heartland International Travel and Tours are doing just this.

They are calling it Boutique Shopping Week VIP Shopping Tours, and for two nights next week, December 11 and 12,* they are going to show us just how luxurious shopping local can be.

Here is how it works:

You meet at The Forks Market, at 5:30 p.m., where you begin your evening with an hors d'oeuvres and wine reception along with getting a sweet swag bag. You then have just over an hour to do some quality shopping amongst The Forks' great boutiques.

From there, the Heartland tour bus will leave at 6:45 and drive you and the shopping crew to stops on Academy Rd. and Osborne Village for some of the best boutique shopping in Winnipeg.

The evening then ends at 9:15, when the bus makes it back to The Forks.

If you are reading this and thinking, "This is sounds a little too posh for my pocket book," you stand corrected.

This swanky, VIP-style shopping experience costs only $15 (plus 5% GST) per person, which, let's not kid around, would barely get you a good glass of pinot gris in a restaurant these days, let alone a wine and canapés reception and a ride around town.

Plus Ciao! publisher Laurie Hughes and Heartland consultant Heather Pedreira will be on the Shopping Tour with you, sharing some insider experience and giving you the backstory behind some of Winnipeg's best little boutiques.

So if you are looking to add some Christmas commerce on the old credit card without having to wrestle your way through mall crowds (let alone looking for a parking spot), then you can't pass this up.

My gal pals and I are all over this, so book your spot today because space will fill up fast.

Call Heartland Tours at 204-989-9630.

*note: The links may still read that the tours are also happening on the 5th and 6th. Rest assured, the info in this post is correct, because Missus Peg would never lead you astray.
