Sarah and Cody’s Excellent Winnipeg adventures - Sarah, Cody and Hi Neighbour Sam ham it up in Transcona (Tourism Winnipeg)

Sarah, Cody and Hi Neighbour Sam ham it up in Transcona (Tourism Winnipeg)

Sarah and Cody’s Excellent Winnipeg adventures

Despite the pandemic there were no bogus journeys for our two intrepid hosts

By: Only in the Peg // December 30, 2020 // Attractions, Family Fun, Outdoor Activities

It’s the most magical time of the year—year in review time!

Throughout the second half of the year, Sarah and Cody (she is actually a Business Development Manager and he’s the Director of Marketing here at Economic Development Winnipeg) went on a whirlwind tour of some of the city’s top attractions, hotels and outdoor events to see how they were adapting with pandemic protocols.

In the above, you can catch some of our favourite moments that didn’t make the cut—namely sing-alongs, flubbed lines and a pug.

In making it, we couldn’t help but reflect on what our tourism partners were up to in spite of 2020’s main (and massive) obstacle, whether it was strategically placing Guns n’ Roses sheet music on a piano (you know Sarah couldn’t resist), to putting Cody in a terrifying rat mask, to ensuring they were still here for bringing the fun safely during the pandemic.

Here’s what they were up to, which you can do too in 2021:

Climbed to new heights while making the obvious bee puns at The Hive, the city’s  newest indoor climbing facility.

At Winnipeg’s castle, they saw how The Fort Garry Hotel is for the dogs (in the best way possible), while experiencing Ten Spa, The Palm Lounge—where Sarah Axled the Ivories—and the super cool new cleaning machines.

At Heebie Jeebies, which was here for Winnipeg at Halloween, they spent some quality time in a meat locker and visited the circus freaks’ house.

Tiger, tiger burning bright—this zoo segment is super tight as our hosts get nearly nose-to-nose with swimming polar bears. Plus, Sarah makes a Tiger King joke.

Hi Neighbour Sam’s favourite segment saw them traversing the city in search of hidden gem museums. It had it all—from being railroaded in Transcona, entering the 1890s at the Dalnavert, some shocking discoveries at the Manitoba Electric Museum, to going Grey at Le Musée de Saint-Boniface Museum.

Tours of the Royal Canadian Mint are always on the money. When you add our hosts to the mix, you have an experience that is worth every penny.

FortWhyte Alive in the summer always floats our boat, plus it’s where the bison roam. Here, Sarah and Cody tried to channel their inner Hal and Joanne—keepin’ fit and having fun.

Life moves pretty fast… except at the Winnipeg Art Gallery,  a perfect place to spend a summer day.

Instead of being at the office with us, Sarah and Cody spent a whole day at Thermea by Nordik Spa Nature—the most tranquil place in Winnipeg. We are still holding a grudge.

Bird’s the word at Sparrow Hotels, whose portfolio includes Inn at the Forks, the Mere Hotel and Norwood Hotel.

Taking you back to where it all started, as our hosts were thunder struck by all go karts, bumper boats and batting cages of Thunder Rapids.

****

We look forward to bringing you more excellent adventures in the New Year. Until then, keep fit and have fun this holiday season!
