With Mother’s Day quickly approaching (and a friendly reminder that children won’t be bringing home handmade gifts from school this year) it’s a great time to support your local florist.
On this week’s Winnipeg Maker Showcase, our hosts Cody Chomiak and Sarah Robinson chatted with Michele Pitre from Norwood Florist Design Studio about the best combinations of blooms and Mother's Day bouquets you can pick up (curbside) just in time.
“The curbside aspect of it has completely revolutionized the way I do business. It’s literally three clicks on the website, you drive up to the front of the store and you get your receipt texted to you,” says owner Michele Pitre.
Offering a carefully curated collection of fresh cut flowers, Norwood Florist also prides themselves on creating each market-style bouquet with quality and attention.
"If you ask me what we do the best, it's the combination of the old style customer service that people expect when they patronize a small business - they know they're going to get individual attention, they know they're going to get quality services and as well, the designer’s aesthetic. It's not just carnations and babies breath getting wrapped up in a piece of cellophane.”
If you’re looking for a little more longevity in your gift this year, they also have a wide selection of tropical plants and succulents, and curated ceramic pots you can bundle together for delivery.
Don’t fret if you’re just a beginner when it comes to picking out tropicals. Michele’s go-to for new plant parents is the Sansevieria, also known as the Snake Plant.
If you're in need of some local jewelry to go along with your flowers, our previous Maker Showcase with dconstruct has you covered.
