The Museum depicts the military history of Manitoba with artifacts from the earliest conflicts between the French and English, Lower Fort Garry in the 1840's, the Red River Expedition, Nile Expedition of 1884, Northwest Canada Rebellion 1885, South Africa 1899-1902, First World War, Second World War, Korean War, Cold War, Peace-keeping, NATO and Afghanistan. Uniforms, medals and equipment are on exhibit from all eras.
The Museum Archives and Library has over 2,000 books and magazines in this reading room. One of its major holdings is the embarkation lists of the Canadian Expeditionary Force which is useful in genealogy research. Over 400,000 names are included in these lists. The library also contains a wide variety of volumes on military history. The reading room is available to all who visit the Museum.
