Where to ring in 2025 (and spend New Year's Day) in Winnipeg

The Forks is hosting a New Year’s Day bash and big events are back for NYE

By: Only in the Peg // December 20, 2024 // Family Fun, Festivals & Events

Big dance floors are on offer for NYE 2024 in Winnipeg, plus who could say no to a side order of murder mystery?

Here’s where the party’s at, noting the only reason we’re not mentioning Burton Cummings at the casino is because that fabulous mustachioed man has already sold it out.

So, when it comes to getting tickets for anything below, act fast.

New Year’s Eve parties

Hargrave like it’s hot (actually, the theme is winter wonderland, but we had to)

Downtown’s biggest NYE bash takes place at Hargrave Street Market, where the dance floor will be worked even harder than the Rose Bar bartenders. This second-annual event will feature multiple live DJs, drink specials and a ball drop, plus there will be $10 pizzas all night from the Gusto North's wood ovens. Tickets are going super-fast.

9 p.m. to 2 a.m. 18+. Get dressy. Tickets and  full info here.

Roaring in the 20's with...Murder! At Fairmont Winnipeg

They are rolling it back a whole century at Portage and Main’s luxury hotel for NYE. Ring in 2025 like its 1925 in the hotel’s Winnipeg Ballroom where an interactive murder-mystery will play out from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. during dinner. There will be cocktails beforehand, and a DJ and dance floor taking you into 2025. Prizes for finding the solution –– and you can even pair the experience for a $139-night stay!

7 p.m. to 1 a.m. 18+ and yes please, you can dress the part. Tickets and full info here.

New Year's Eve Gala at Assiniboia Downs

A huge dance floor, DJs and prime rib are just a few of the ways the Downs does NYE. This extravaganza will also include some pretty sweet door prizes, party favours, free coat check and your chance to win a share of $2,025. The buffet menu is also extensive and impressive, as you would expect at Assiniboia Downs.

6 p.m. to 1 a.m.  Full details here.

Family fun

Manitoba Moose hockey

Cheer on the Manitoba Moose as they take on the Texas Stars at Canada Life Centre for some early NYE fun.

Puck drops at 4 p.m. Get tickets now.

Top Hats & Tiaras at the Children's Museum

Dress up in fancy formal wear and they'll supply the top hats and tiaras at this family event at the Children's Museum. There will be face painting, souvenir family photos and live entertainment.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. General admission tickets (valid for Top Hats & Tiaras) are rush-only on December 31, 2024. Available in person, onsite at the admissions desk while supplies last.

The Forks for New Year’s Day

U2 wouldn’t recognize such a spectacle, as The Forks is getting loud on New Year’s Day with live music, drag performances, yoga and movement classes and a whole day’s worth of outdoor activities to keep you moving.

Both The Market and the Agodwiidiwinan Centre will host family-friendly events and activities, and of course, The Common and all the food kiosks will be open to offer you a world of flavours.

Here’s the  full schedule of events, which run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
