Here for it: Behind the Scenes tours at Assiniboine Park Zoo!

By: Only in the Peg // July 22, 2021 // Attractions, Family Fun

Our Here for It hosts Cody and Sarah go behind-the-scenes at Assiniboine Park Zoo to meet with some of the Zoo’s most lovable creatures, the harbour seals!

Click on the video below to see our hosts meeting up with experienced educator Bran Adams, who guides them through this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Behind the Scenes Zoo Tours are an exclusive sneak peek into the inner workings of the Zoo, bringing participants up close to some fascinating animals as well as meeting their respective animal care professionals.

Sarah and Cody go behind-the-scenes with the Harbour Seals Honorary Trainer experience. After an introduction at the outdoor seal viewing area in Journey to Churchill, they are taken to seal beach, an area not accessible with regular zoo admission.

After learning and observing how training benefits the animals, participants are given the opportunity to be an honorary trainer, directly participating in the positive reinforcement training program.

Repeat visits are in order, as this Honorary Trainer experience is also available while in the company of polar bears (with some slight safety adjustments, of course).

The Zoo also offers the Big Cat Enrichment Experience, where participants can spend the morning with either the Amur tiger or snow leopards. What a purrrrrrefect way to spend a summer day. Behind the Scenes Tours last 75 minutes and the maximum group size is four.

To book a tour today, visit their tours webpage and for more ideas on what you can do this summer in Winnipeg, go www.hereforitwpg.com.
