Local summer fashion for your next Winnipeg shopping spree

By: Only in the Peg // July 10, 2021 // Shopping

There's never been a more important time to buy local and support Winnipeg's small shops. This summer, the city's most chic boutiques, makers and designers have stepped up their game to offer the latest and trendiest curated collections.

Below you'll find over a dozen options for sweet summer clothing, endless accessories and even scents blended right here in the city.

Maison Corazon, known for her bold floral prints and Mystique Féminin Tees, recently launched the Playa Collection. Spanish for "Beach Collection," these playful one-piece swimsuits and heart-shaped beach blankets will have you dreaming of swims and sandcastles.

We love Shop Take Care for its eclectic collection of consignment clothing, but is also has a selection of handmade goods from across North America. Poketo sheer socks are the perfect summer accessory, blending super cute patterns with sheer realness.

Riley Grae is spending summer at its new 701 Corydon Ave. location. Inside, you’ll find a small, curated collection for summer inspired by friendship and sweetness. "The Friend Parade" offers summer picnic essentials like pastel bucket hats, berry-themed earrings, tote bags and tees.

Anya Boutique never disappoints, as owner Alicja Dalecki has a true eye for fashion. Her recent Insta post informs us that her handpicked summer collection is now in stores and you won't want to miss the opportunity to see summer through Alicja’s eyes.

You will be “Walkin into Summer” with style thanks to Mad About Style boutique. Conveniently named as such, this collection consists of flowy bohemian dresses in sunny yellows and sky blues.

Whether you call it a romper, a jumpsuit or a one-piece, you can find this perfect summer outfit at Out of the Blue. The Riley Romper in violet made of organic cotton is our pick for the season.

Commonwealth MFG. has been making high-quality handmade shirts out of its Exchange District warehouse since 2015. Its spring/summer collection is now online and we are loving the green boho shirt in 100 per cent lightweight cotton.

"Paradise Found" is the name of Siggi Clothing’s summer ‘21 collection. The drawstring pants and Bateau top available in magenta, teal, sand and washed black can be combined to create the perfect summer ensemble.

Sarah Sue Design’s summer 2021 collection takes inspiration from the 70s with pieces made from a colourful Monstera linen print or herringbone design. The Eva Long Cardigan in a hemp bamboo fabric is the perfect complement to elevate your summer wardrobe.

dconstruct is all about daisies this season with a new, checkered-pattern collection in everything from wavy snake-themed earrings to tiny flower studs and groovy hair clips. Pair these floral pieces with a BAGGU mask and an oversized sun hat or a nooworks jumper, all in stock for summer.

Winnipeg’s newest perfume lab, Denatured, has collaborated with Winnipeg’s prettiest press-on nail painters, Fingernails are Pretty. This sweet-scented team has created two nostalgic-themed scents: Penichillin’, inspired by creamy and sweet banana medicine and Daddy Issues, smelling sweet, fruity and juicy.

Danali’s new Winnipeg Favourites tee is an organic cotton ode to some of the best spots in Winnipeg to shop, sip and snack. The idea behind the shirt came after shop staff created endless handwritten lists for those new to our city. Danali wants to share these special shops with anyone who wants to rep the city wherever they go. Plus, plenty of proceeds from each shirt sold will be donated to Manitoba Harvest.
