The Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg is open and ready for visitors this summer!
This week, our Summer Saved hosts Cody Chomiak and Sarah Robinson learn about some of the expanded offerings at the Royal Canadian Mint so you can get your money's worth this summer.
Tracey Heminger, manager of Winnipeg retail and tour operations, joins the duo through the entire coin-making process and points out what’s different along the way.
Focused on keeping you busy while group-size restrictions are currently in place, The Mint has increased the number of activities to do outside while you wait for your tour time.
“We’ve done the painted walkway and we also have a scavenger hunt available for the kids. It's a fun play along about how money doesn't grow on trees,” says Heminger.
The 45-minute tours are offered hourly at half-capacity and show guests the very beginning of how a coin is made right down to the end with packaging - social distance style.
“We also have coloured markers on the floor that have been working really well for us, so pretty much when you check-in you get a colour. Your family will say what that colour kind of throughout the experience.”
Save time on your next visit and reserve your tour ahead of time by calling 204.984.1144 to book.
