What could be better than free music with a side of food in the heart of Winnipeg's French Quarter?
That's the thinking behind Mercredis En Musique, a new food and music initiative by the folks at Festival du Voyageur. (Music started last year while the food component is new this year.)
The free concerts run every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. until August 28 in Jardins de sculptures at 219 Provencher Boulevard. Local restaurants will also be on hand on their appointed days selling lunch specials ranging from $5 to $10 or so.
Here's the music and food roster for summer:
- July 31: John K Samson (of the Weakerthans) and Purple Hibiscus
August restaurants have yet to be confirmed. Here's the music line-up:
- August 7: Del Barber
- August 14 Alexis Normand
- August 21: Red Moon Road
- August 28: Marijosée
