Leader of the Year
Winnipeg Tourism Leader of the Year Award of Distinction
Presented to an individual(s) who contributes to growing Winnipeg’s tourism industry.
Claudette LeClerc has over 30 years’ experience leading several Winnipeg tourism institutions, most notably as executive director and CEO of the Manitoba Museum for the last 19 years. Claudette previously held leadership positions at Folklorama and the Winnipeg International Children’s Festival (a role she accepted when she was just 21 years old). Currently, Claudette is spearheading the Manitoba Museum’s $160-million capital campaign, with the first and second of three planned phases almost complete and underway, respectively. Claudette has served as a board member for Tourism Winnipeg and Travel Manitoba, and she presently sits on the board of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and devotes time to Manitobans for the Arts, the Main Street Advisory Committee and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce’s Tourism Committee. In 2012, Claudette received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal acknowledging her decades of community service in the cultural sector. Throughout her career, Claudette has been a quiet, confident advocate, and her passionate commitment to her chosen field is evidenced through the many personal and professional causes she has championed over the years.
