Poetry, music and dance in one immersive experience

Music by Heavy Bell (Tom Keenan & Matt Peters), adapted from the book By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept by Elizabeth Smart

World Premiere

Eight musicians and two dancers bring to life a story of love, seen through one woman’s experience and poetry. With movements that are at times literal and at others abstract, the words of Elizabeth Smart resonate with sensuality.

One of Canada’s most-revered female poets, Smart’s seminal work inspired local Winnipeg band Heavy Bell to adapt the poems into a song cycle. Now those songs have been crafted into a dance and theatre performance of eloquence and beauty.
