Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra: A Day in Bohemia
November 1, 2019
Travel behind the scenes at a Friday morning matinee with an open rehearsal and concert performance.
Hear the conductor’s introduction the music, a complete performance of the work, and participate in a Q+A – All in one hour!
The Czech folk flavor in orchestral music found its place with two composers: Bedřich Smetana and Antonín Dvořák, both of whom beautifully expressed their home-land’s special blend of melody and dance.
Smetana’s Overture to his opera The Bartered Bride is paired with Dvořák’s Sixth Symphony for a perfect taste of the two greatest musical spokespeople of their country.
All Matinees begin at 10:30 am on Fridays.
Pre-concert chats begin 25 minutes before each performance on the Piano Nobile.
