Reyhaneh Jabbari was a young, 19-year-old, modern Iranian woman with ambitious plans and dreams. An encounter with a former agent of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence changed everything. When he tried to rape her, she stabbed him once before fleeing. She was arrested for murder and sentenced to death. The legal battle she and her family fought for seven years garnered the world’s attention and led to international pressure for her release. Director Steffi Niederzoll weaves together Reyhaneh’s story through her letters, secretly recorded videos, and interviews with her family members.
