Visions of Swan Lake

Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet has overcome the odds to continue its 81st season, and for the first time ever will present the remainder of the season digitally. This is possible due to the generous support from our patrons, funders, sponsors, donors as well as our students and families. The RWB will continue to embrace digital performance opportunities, while working to ensure a safe return to the stage.

The art of ballet has continued for centuries, often serving as a serene reprieve in troubled times, and through it we find solace and strength and renewed determination. We invite you to join us for a moment to escape in the fluid movement, famous scores, and pure joy eluded by the artists who are returning to the stage, or rather your screen.

Visions of Swan Lake will feature the most iconic scenes from this classic tale, with intricate costumes that include masks and awe-inspiring movement by dancers. The RWB is thrilled to create with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra again who will perform the score to scenes of this iconic ballet. This partnership will elevate your experience and demonstrate the resilience and support within arts organizations in Winnipeg.

In order to bring you further into the experience of digital ballet, the RWB will present Visions of Swan Lake with a production company, Frank Digital. The RWB is excited to explore the delivery of dance through technology and give the audience an intimate and dynamic perspective that ballet enthusiasts have never had before.

It’s a classic, revamped to be enjoyed from the comfort of your home. Please join us after the performance for a Q&A with Artistic Director André Lewis, Associate Artistic Director Tara Birtwhistle, and company dancers.
