Christmas outside of Manitoba's Legislature Building!

12 Days of Christmas: Winnipeg food version

In honour of the holiday season, here's a little reimagining of the 12 Days of Christmas, and an homage to Winnipeg food.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, twelve dinner dates (one for every month of the year).

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eleven dream cake slices piped with pink buttercream icing from Lilac Bakery.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, ten dishes, any ten dishes, created by chef Adam Donelly at Segovia.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, nine slices of Chocolatier Constance Popp's gluten-free chocolate cake.

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eight maids making batches of Cornell Creme's lemon meringue ice cream.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, seven o'clock reservations to my favourite restaurant on Saturday.

On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, six Brisk and Boozy martinis (to share) at Spin Restaurant and Martini Bar.

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, five golden poutines—Turkey, Vegan, Pulled Pork, Le Quebecois and the Manitoban—at the Osborne Village Cafe.

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, four Chocolate Candy Cane doughnuts by Oh Doughnuts with a extra hot cappuccino at Parlour Coffee.

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me, three cornish games hens, marinated in grainy Dijon, thyme and Grand Marnier and roasted until crispy crackling perfection at Prairie 360˚.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me, two bottles of bergamot citrus infused extra virgin olive oil and aged red apple balsamic vinegar from Frescolio.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me: "It's OK honey, let me pick up the cheque."
