Constance Menzies is one of Manitoba's top chocolatiers. That is a fact.
In the past five years, she has built that reputation on hard work, a dedication to made-in-Manitoba ingredients and sheer determination.
Menzies, whose maiden name is Popp, started her business in St. James on Portage Avenue. Using Belgium chocolate as her base, Menzies infuses her truffles, bars and chocolate with home-grown ingredients like maple and birch syrup, hemp, flax and sunflower seeds.
Menzies, a master marketer, takes every opportunity to praise and promote Manitoba ingredients. More than just telling people how wonderful Manitoba staples taste, she shows them.

Her St. James location was the place she cemented her position in Winnipeg's food scene. Popp opened her new shop in early August.
Her new St. Boniface location, which opened in early August, replaces the original location. With the help of her assistant chocolatier Kimberly Cowan, Menzies will tap into an even bigger market of chocolate lovers.
The new chocolate boutique also serves coffee, to be enjoyed with a cocoa nibble or three while sitting at one of several small tables.
The Provencher Boulevard spot is a five-minute drive from downtown and smack in the middle of Winnipeg's French Quarter. The central location, also just down the block and across the Red River to The Forks, places the boutique within striking distance of Winnipeg's main tourist and visitor areas.
