Let the street eating begin.
Three years ago, Winnipeg had one food truck.
El Torrito owner Jorge Torres and his partner served up tacos galore from their big red truck. Winnipeggers went wild for the el fresco Mexican eats.
Fast forward to spring 2013. Winnipeg has about 20 food trucks cruising the streets and Mexican cuisine was just for starters. Today, street eaters can gobble up Filipino, Mediterranean, Thai, Laotian, Poutine, chicken wings in 30+ varieties, American south-style barbecued pork, chicken and beef, Japanese sweets, pizza, seasoned corn on the cob and French on the go.
From Monday to Friday, many of the city's food trucks can be found in three areas of downtown Winnipeg: Broadway at Edmonton Street; the Exchange District's Old Market Square; and Portage Avenue outside the Manitoba Hydro Building. Locals can point the direction
