Tuxedo

Download a print version

Sprawling mansions, lush greenery and gorgeous character homes are found in the upscale neighbourhood of Tuxedo. This area was originally conceived as “Tuxedo Park,” an exclusive residential suburb, during Winnipeg’s boom years from 1900-1914. Its development was enhanced by the proximity of Assiniboine Park and the building of the Broadway streetcar route in the early 1920s (later named Academy Road in 1933). While here, enjoy Assiniboine Park’s verdant lawns while dining on gourmet eats at Terrace Fifty-Five, shop for designer shoes at My Beautiful Shoes and play a round of mini golf at Tuxedo Golf Course.

Location: The approximate boundaries are Assiniboine Park and Forest to the west, the Assiniboine River to the north, Kenaston Boulevard to the east and Sterling Lyon Parkway to the south. Located 5.7 km from downtown and 5.9 km from the airport.
How to get there: From the airport, turn onto Wellington Ave and turn right onto King Edward St (Route 90). Continue south on Route 90 (which becomes Kenaston) and turn right at any point before Sterling Lyon Parkway to enter Tuxedo.

Bus routes: 18, 65, 66, 67, 78, 79, 95
