An ethnically diverse area, Fort Garry was named after the historical fortification in downtown known as Upper Fort Garry. It comprises numerous residential streets intermingled with bustling commercial districts boasting locally owned shops and restaurants, as well as favourite chains and big box stores. This area is home to the city’s largest post-secondary institution, the University of Manitoba and is the future home of the new Winnipeg Blue Bombers stadium.

Location: The approximate boundaries are Waverly St to the west, Jubilee Ave to the north, the Red River to the east and Dalhousie Dr to the south. Located 5 km from downtown and 10.2 km from the airport.

How to get there: From the airport, turn onto Wellington Ave. Turn right onto King Edward St (Route 90). Stay left, and continue to follow Route 90. Turn left onto Academy Rd (there are signs for Academy Rd E). Turn right onto Stafford St. Turn right onto Pembina Highway and continue south into Fort Garry.
