The Manitoba Museum will be open Canada Day, July 1 from 10am until 5pm. Children under 12 who wear red and white will get in FREE.

The Museum is the best place to escape the heat this weekend. Reeds and Wool offers visitors of all ages a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the decorative reed screens made by Kyrgyz women. This exhibit is FREE with any Museum admission, including the Planetarium and Science Gallery.

Enjoy an afternoon laser show with A Brief Mystery of Time at noon, or the Beatles Matinee at 3 pm. In the evening, the Planetarium will show Radiohead at 7:30 pm, Beatles Anthology at 8:45 pm, Radiohead at 8:45 pm,  Pink Floyd: The Wall at 10:00, and Daft Punk at 11:15.

Learn how the Museum’s conservation team battles insects, mold, humidity, and other environmental conditions to protect millions of priceless artifacts in the Discovery Room’s Museum 911: Conservators Protecting Our Treasures exhibit.

Test your strength and learn about simple machines with the pulley chair attraction in the Science Gallery. If you’re feeling brave, try the red one—it’s quite the workout! The intensity or simplicity of the exercise is based on the design of the pulley.

Visit the Cretaceous Life display in the Earth History Gallery to feel a real dinosaur bone, hear what a dinosaur may have sounded like, and be dazzled by a spectacular collection from one of Canada’s finest amber deposits. Be sure to check out the giant amethyst in our foyer.

We also have plenty of activities to keep the little ones happy. Play Museum I-Spy or Museum Bingo with your toddlers. For more information on these interactive games, please pick up a free Museum Passport at reception.
