    January 2013 marks the launch of the WAG’s exciting new partnership with the National Gallery of Canada: NGC@WAG. This venture will see the WAG host a number of exhibitions drawn almost exclusively from the NGC’s collection over the next three years. The WAG joins the Art Gallery of Alberta (Edmonton) and Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (Toronto) as the third satellite gallery for the NGC’s collection!

  • Drawn and Fired: Recent Vessels - Robert Archambeau

    Artist Robert Archambeau is best known for his functional pots with their confident profiles, subtle wood-fired glazes, and meticulous finishes. But a new exhibition opening at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on February 15 turns in a new direction. Honoured in 2003 with the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, Archambeau was the first Manitoba artist to be recognized with this prestigious award.

    L'exposition Entre soi et l'oubli est issue d’un projet d’échange entre La Maison des artistes visuels et l’Atelier Graff à Montréal. Katia Gosselin, membre de Graff, et Éric Lesage, membre de La Maison des artistes, ont été sélectionnés pour le projet il y a plus d'un an. A heartbreaking collection of pet posters and a mysterious stockpile of uncaptioned photos asks us to re-imagine the forgotten past.

    Henry V’s father Bolingbroke (Henry IV) was never able to rule comfortably because he had usurped Richard II. On his succession King Henry V is determined to prove his right to rule, including over France. An ambassador arrives from the French Dauphin with a provocative gift. Henry responds by preparing to invade France. Three of the king’s friends are discovered to be plotting against him and he condemns them to death. Pistol, Nym, and Bardolph, the companions of Henry’s wild days in London, join the king’s forces and set off for the wars
