Its geographic range and diverse media have brought international renown to the collection of over 11,000 artworks. As we celebrate our 100th anniversary, this major exhibition of 250 artworks (the largest exhibition of Inuit art ever mounted by the Gallery) reveals the scope of the collection and features many of the Gallery’s treasures.

The WAG joins the Art Gallery of Alberta (Edmonton) and Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (Toronto) as the third satellite gallery for the NGC’s collection!

But a new exhibition opening at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on February 15 turns in a new direction. Honoured in 2003 with the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, Archambeau was the first Manitoba artist to be recognized with this prestigious award.

Inspired by Aristophanes, The Pluto Shot is an hilarious exposé about the politics of science which boldly forecasts a change in the… weather? Set in northern California in the early 1960’s, in the midst of the cold war. The McCarthy era is just ending, Hitchcock is set to shoot The Birds, the population of San Francisco Bay is about to “explode” and scientists are developing the ultimate deterrent.
