Student Itineraries

You be the judge.

Winnipeg offers learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom. Travel back in time and admire pioneer innovations, give kudos to Mother Nature when you see how wildlife has adapted to the environment or take part in an archeological dig.

Participate in a mock trial at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Park, get up close and personal with nature at FortWhyte ALIVE or Oak Hammock Marsh, or join in the uprising at the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919.

It’s for the birds.

Mother Nature is calling you.

Day 1
Start at The Forks, an expanse of riverside property in the heart of downtown Winnipeg and a popular gathering place for not only birds, but lots of people as well. The area features parks, promenades and sculptures located alongside restaurants, shops and attractions.

Then enjoy a prairie picnic and get a duck's eye view of the plants and animals as you stroll the floating boardwalk or as a passenger in a voyageur-style canoe at Oak Hammock Marsh.

Day 2
Check out Manitoba’s bat cave and natural history dioramas at The Manitoba Museum and dance your way to fun learning with the Di-Bird-sity Program at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Continue on your environmental journey to FortWhyte ALIVE, where you can observe nature at its best, including a 70-acre Bison Prairie and viewing mound.

Money, Mystery and Adventure

Listen to the telling of tales and satisfy your curiosity by seeing how things work.

Day 1
Masonic mysteries are revealed on the Hermetic Code Tour of Manitoba’s Legislative Building, while legends of power, corruption and heroism are related during The Exchange District walking tours which take visitors through the district that served as Winnipeg’s centre of finance and wholesale trade during the 1880s.

Day 2
Change is good, or at least that is what they say, at the Royal Canadian Mint where you can see billions of Canadian and foreign coins being made. Then, test the universal laws of science and explore the wonders of technology and illusion at The Manitoba Museum Science Gallery.

Day 3
Visit those daring young men and their flying machines at the Western Canada Aviation Museum followed by a steam train ride on the Prairie Dog Central.

And in the evening, go on a haunted outing with Heartland International Travel and Tours. Choose from a historical tour of Winnipeg’s ghosts where you might catch a glimpse of an orb or apparition in special places, hear historic tales about the paranormal at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site or communicate with spirits at the St. Boniface Museum.

Trains, Planes and GPS.

Transportation hasn’t been the same since the invention of the wheel.

Day 1
Head to The Manitoba Museum to gain an appreciation of how man has travelled from one place to another, and see how transportation modes have changed our universe. Then board the Paddlewheel River Boat and cruise Winnipeg’s waterways.

Visit those daring young men and their flying machines at the Western Canada Aviation Museum. Learn about the history and technology of flight.

Day 2
Learn how the railway changed the face of Western Canada and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Prairie Dog Central Railway train depot where you can ride one of North America’s oldest steam locomotives.

And at the end of your journey enjoy western fare at the Hitch N Post for lunch before heading out to Oak Hammock Marsh to discover hidden treasures using Global Positioning System technology.
