Half Day

Spend a day at the races at Assiniboia Downs, where live track horse races are held May through September. Grab a seat in the grandstand or on the ground level as the horses rush toward the finish line. Afterward, head inside the 140-VLT gaming lounge to take a chance with lady luck and place your wager on simulcast televised races from tracks in Canada, U.S. and Australia. Complete the afternoon with a meal inside the Terrace Dining Room, which overlooks the horse track and serves a grand all-you-can-eat buffet.

After a morning of golfing, make your way to McPhillips Station Casino for gaming, dining and live entertainment. Relive the opulent splendor of the railway days at one of the most unique entertainment facilities in Western Canada. Deep red velvets, rich woods and sparkling chandeliers harken to an era of excitement and indulgence inside this 178,000 sq. ft., smoke-free facility. Enjoy a buffet lunch at Michele’s or head to the Upperdeck Sports Bar for a bite to eat and drinks. Get competitive with a game of poker, billiards or shuffleboard. Armchair athletes can sit back and watch the hot ticket match on a large HDTV screen.

When the sun goes down, head to new pub Fox & Fiddle in Winnipeg’s trendy Exchange District. Located inside a former bank, this chic tavern serves up classic pub grub with creative twists, such as peppercorn brandy
wings, steak ‘n’ chips, butter chicken and a Tex Mex burger.

Let the games continue while cheering on the city’s professional sports teams. Watch the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers play at new Investors Group Field or catch a Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball game at Shaw Park.

Full Day 2

Rise and shine with breakfast at The Current Restaurant and Lounge, located inside boutique hotel Inn at the Forks. Afterward, the experienced guides of City Cats fishing will lead the way for a morning of fishing. Cast your line for trophy-sized catfish, walleye and northern pike on the Red and Assiniboine rivers.

For lunch, scoot over to Tavern United with four locations across the city. From beer and cheddar soup to a Yorkshire pudding bowl to 25 types of wings, there are options to suite all tastes. While here, sip on premium pints, martinis and vino while watching sports on the many LCD TVs located around the pub.

Next, test your climbing skills at Adrenaline Adventures. Challenge yourself on a high-ropes course, or try out cable wakeboarding. Racing fanatics can fly around the track at Speedworld Indoor Kart Track, where karts typically reach speeds of 50 km/h. Weekly races at Red River Co-op Speedway begin in May. Watch the Pure Stock Series and Pro Racing Series to satisfy a need for speed.

Once you’re ready for more gaming, head to the world-class Club Regent Casino. Explore the breathtaking mystical tropical jungle featuring vibrant flowers, swaying palm trees and the sounds of exotic birds, and stroll through Neptune’s Cave, a stunning saltwater fish tank display.
