Half Day

Fill up on comfort food with creative twists at the popular Academy Road eatery Saucers Café. Swoon over a
regional ingredient pulled bison sandwich smothered in tangy barbeque sauce and aged cheddar or the famous
roast chicken breast wrap sweetened with thai peanut sauce. To complement the meal, try a specialty drink made
from the “teaspresso”—similar to an espresso machine—but made with tea sourced from neighbourhood tea and
coffee shop Cornelia Bean. Be sure to order one of the specialty summertime iced teas and sit out on the patio
when the temperature soars. One-of-a-kind boutiques dot this upscale street, where you can pick up divine
chocolates from Bernard Callebaut and fine wines, pâté, cheese, gourmet spreads and more at specialty food store
G.J. Andrews.

Stroll along Corydon Avenue for prime people watching on the patio and shopping at unique specialty shops. Keep
cool and stroll with a scoop of gelato in hand from Nucci’s Gelati. With 70 flavours, choose from fruity favourites like
raspberry and lemon to sweet chocolate and tiramisu. Grab a spot on the zen-like stone patio at Kenko Niwa and order
its signature Love Love roll—pollock, avocado and crisp cucumber fill the centre while soft pieces of salmon and tuna
on top are sprinkled with tempura and a sweet secret sauce.  For a more upscale dinner, Mise Bistro Lounge showcases regional cuisine in dishes like wild rice latke fries with fiery harissa dipping sauce and cornmeal-crusted Manitoba pickerel with roasted vegetables. When the sun goes down, the action heats up at Bar Italia, with its hopping patio and lounge that stays open into the wee hours.

Full Day 1
Wake up your taste buds and start off at The Forks—Winnipeg’s 54-acre gathering space featuring plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment options. Fuel up at Winnipeg landmark The Original Pancake House—famous for its giant baked apple pancake. Cozy up with this monstrous pancake generously topped with cinnamonsugar glaze and baked with juicy apple slices. Belgian waffles, French toast, crêpes and other classic morning fare are offered at this local family-friendly eatery. For “grab-and-go” options, follow the aroma of freshly baked bread to Tall Grass Prairie Bakery. Savour this organic bakery’s famous sticky-sweet cinnamon buns or divine flaky cheese croissants.

While at the market, browse more than 750 varieties of cheese at Fenton’s Gourmet Foods, take home a bottle
of freshly pressed sunflower oil from Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen, or treat the little ones to bags of old-fashioned
candy and Mordens’ of Winnipeg chocolate offered at The Almond Tree.

Next, head downtown to the cheerful Dessert Sinsations Café next to the Winnipeg Art Gallery. This sunny eatery
offers a mix of savoury and sweet delights from mile-high tortes made with layers of whipped mousse and fresh berries
to decadent lobster poutine with dill hollandaise. Another great lunch spot tucked amongst the arts is Stella’s Café &
Bakery
at Plug In Gallery. Stella’s famous garden burger is a must-try with a perfectly seasoned veggie patty on a
multigrain bun stuffed with fresh tomato, alfalfa sprouts, crispy onions, peach chutney and cilantro-spiked sauce.

When hunger strikes at dinnertime, explore one of Winnipeg’s emerging dining hot spots on Sherbrook Street.
Feast on authentic East Indian fare at Charisma of India—where crispy samosas and silky butter chicken are popular
picks. If you’re searching for a groovy meal, The Melting Pot offers fun fondue meals with melted cheese, chocolate and
boullion for dipping. Cap off the night at one of numerous patios and sip a cold beverage at The Standard Tavern
and Cousin’s Deli facing bustling Sherbrook Street.

Full Day 2
Begin the day with breakfast in the Exchange District and watch the sun shine over beautiful turn-of-the-last-century
architectural buildings. News junkies head to the Winnipeg Free Press News Café—the first of its kind in the city—
where diners can watch Free Press journalists at work, while tucking into classic breakfast fare from free-range eggs
served with Manitoba Winkler bacon, chunky hash browns and toast or a fluffy roasted vegetable frittata. Get your
morning caffeine fix, whether it be a chai latte or fair trade certified organic tea at the warm and welcoming Kay’s Deli
before checking out the neighbourhood art galleries and boutiques.

Break for lunch and drive over to St. Boniface, Winnipeg’s French Quarter where history and fantastic culinary
adventures await. For modern French fare, Inferno’s Bistro offers mussels in a curry-infused broth along with a lipsmacking duck confit sandwich with cashew butter, grilled mixed peppers and zippy jalapeno jelly on potato rosemary
bread. If you’re on the hunt for a good old-fashioned burger loaded with chili and all the fixings— look no further than
the long-standing Red Top Diner, which first opened in 1960.

Make your way to trendy Osborne Village where foodies flock to hip eateries. Inspired tapas like tender, seared scallops
combined with creamed leeks and oyster mushrooms at Segovia Tapas Bar and Restaurant make it a hit with gourmands. Adventurous eaters can try blackened alligator at Aussie hot spot Billabong Bar & Bistro, along with other
favourites from down under, including Australian lamb shank and pumpkin soup. For a more casual dinner, head
to Burrito del Rio for south-of-the-border fare from made to order spicy chicken burritos to tortillas chips served with
refreshing house-made guacamole.
