Take a trip into Winnipeg’s past as you tour the 1895 home of Sir Hugh John Macdonald—former Manitoba premier and son of Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. Rescued from demolition in 1969, MHS Dalnavert has since been awarded provincial and National Historic Site designations. Museum interpreters bring history to life through stories and artifacts that represent an affluent family’s lifestyle in the early days of Winnipeg.
The adjoining Visitor’s Centre is a state-of-the-art “green” building that overlooks Dalnavert’s heirloom garden and houses an impressive gift shop, featuring many items from local artisans. Free parking is available for visitors. Final daily tours will commence 45 minutes prior to closing. Please call for hours.
