  In winter months, the Assiniboine Credit Union River Trail is a tradition for many families. The trail begins at The Forks, where free programming and fun activities are held each weekend. Visitors enjoy Winnipeg's beautiful snow-capped scenery as they skate, run, walk or sled along the Guinness World Record-holding longest naturally frozen skating trail in the world. Along the way, ice skaters warm up from the cold inside five new visually stunning warming huts, featured in the video, which were all designed by architects. World-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the designer behind the Guggenheim in Bilbao, conceived the featured hut constructed with large blocks of ice. The five shelter designs were selected as winners in the Warming Huts v.2012: An Art + Architecture Competition, which is held every year. Other family activities include: curling, hockey, broomball, and more.
