Tourism Winnipeg

I am very proud to say I’m from Winnipeg, and this feeling only grows each summer when we host Folklorama!

Folklorama is a two week festival that provides the opportunity for different cultural communities in Winnipeg to celebrate their culture and share it with others. The festival runs from the end of July until mid August. Each week, 20 different pavilions are set up around the city showcasing cultural performances, educational displays and a variety of local cuisine.

The India Pavilion was the very first I ever visited. I didn’t know what to expect at all and was completely blown away by the experience! The traditional dancing was entertaining, I learned about Indian culture from both the performances and displays, and I also had the opportunity to try a different cuisine which I absolutely fell in love with.

Not only does Folklorama offer an exciting evening full of fun and food, it also celebrates diversity and promotes cultural understanding. Folklorama does an excellent job at showcasing how culturally diverse Winnipeg is, all while providing a great opportunity for people to explore the world without ever leaving the city.

Whether you’re a Winnipegger or not, I encourage you to check out Folklorama next year. It’s a one of a kind festival that we’re so fortunate to host!
